This project proposes a new neighbourhood café within the ground floor of an existing corner multiplex in Toronto, transforming an underutilized street edge into an active and welcoming destination for the community. Currently in the schematic design phase, the project explores how small scale interventions can create meaningful urban experiences within compact footprints.

Designed to support daily rituals and casual social interaction, the café introduces a warm and inviting atmosphere through natural wood finishes, soft ambient lighting, and simple material expressions. Large storefront openings strengthen the relationship between interior activity and the public realm, creating visual connection between the café and the surrounding streetscape.

The design prioritizes pedestrian experience and neighbourhood integration by activating the corner condition and creating a comfortable transition between indoor and outdoor space. As a mixed use intervention within an existing building, the project demonstrates how adaptive reuse and small scale commercial spaces can contribute to more walkable, community focused neighbourhoods while creating opportunities for social connection at the local level.
